We were discussing paranoia for a group project, and on a completely random tangent I got into a chicken game. Although it didn’t pertain to what we have planned for our group, I decided to flesh it out! So without further ado, I give you:
Cluk Cluk! A Chicken Simulation Experience
Suggest players: 4
Objective of game: Accumulate the most eggs to win!
General Play Dynamics: The player is a chicken, and as we all know the biggest chicken lays the most eggs! The goal is to ensure that you are the biggest chicken per turn to gain eggs, but also to make sure you are not so big you can’t make another chicken have their eggs taken away by the farmer instead.
General Gameplay: There are 3 decks. An egg stack, that is face up. An Event draw deck, which is face down. And a Feed deck, which is also face down.
At the beginning of each turn, each player draws from the feed deck, and then flips it over so everyone can see. Types of feed cards are, a) regular amount, b) double amount, c)slim to no feed, d) growth horomones. Growth horomones are considered more feed than double feed. Chickens eat anything infront of them, so any feed your player has each turn, they WILL eat!
Each player then draws an action card which they may play immediately or save for another round. Only one card may be played per turn though. There is no turn organization per player, only rounds, so whoever decides to do what first is, in fact, first.
Types of Action Cards:
Horde feed: the player may conceal their next feed card and keep hidden until they decide to use for a turn in addition to whatever feed they draw that turn.
Take Feed: You may steal one player’s feed card this turn.
Shove feed: You may take one feed card and place it in with another chickens feed.
Hide: You cannot be found by the farmer if you play this card for this turn.
All action cards are discarded after they are used.
One event card is drawn first from the deck and flipped over. These events affect everyone in the game.
Events:
The farmer comes!: The largest chicken for that turn loses half it’s eggs. If they only have 1 egg, they lose it. If it is an odd number of eggs, round up from half.
The weasel got in!: Everyone loses one egg.
Great Day!: Everyone gets one egg in addition to any they acquire this turn through feed.
Just another day: Nothing happens.
Stormy weather: If a farmer card is drawn next turn, simply discard and go to next round.
At the end of a round, all players discard their feed unless cards otherwise state.
Points: Each round, the largest chicken gains 3 eggs. If there is a tie, each competitor for largest chicken gets 2 eggs. The next largest chicken gets 2 eggs, and the next largest gets 1. The smallest chicken gets no eggs.
Once the feed deck is empty, the player with the most eggs wins!
